The minimum medical requirement for participation in a USAMMA sanctioned event is:
1. Negative HIV test, no older than 6 months from competition date. A copy of the test must be brought to the event by the fighter. This test will be presented to the event doctor at prefight medical examinations.
2. Negative Hepatitis B and C test, no older than 6 months from competition date. A copy of the test must be brought to the event by the fighter. This test will be presented to the event doctor at prefight medical examinations.
Each USAMMA sanctioned event will have an approved Doctor administering pre-fight physicals. The purpose of the physicals is to ensure that all fighters are able to participate in a strenuous activity such as MMA. Once pre-fight examinations are completed, Doctor will then become Ringside Physician for the event.
Each USAMMA sanctioned event will have an ambulance with paramedic attendants at ringside. In the case of a fighter being injured, the event cannot proceed without the Doctor at ringside. In the case of a fighter being injured and the fighter being taken to the hospital, the event cannot proceed without a replacement ambulance with paramedics on scene.
Each state may have additional medical requirements. Those requirements must be fulfilled in addition to the above NEGATIVE HIV and NEGATIVE HEP B AND C test result. No competitor will be allowed to participate in a USAMMA sanctioned event without a NEGATIVE HIV and NEGATIVE HEP B AND C test.
